Italy 2007

It is with great rejoicing that the St. Gregory the Great Church Choir will be embarking on a Choir pilgrimage to Rome, March 6-15, 2007.

The Choir has accepted an invitation to be the principal choir singing at the 10:30 am Latin Mass at the Altar of the Chair in St. Peter's Basilica on Sunday, March 11, 2007.  We embrace the opportunity of serving this role of musical leadership at the Vatican with a sense of honor, humility, and great gladness.  On the same evening, the Choir will present a liturgical concert at the Church of St. Ignatius in Rome. This performance is a professionally organized concert, enjoyed by an enthusiastic audience.

We also will celebrate Mass with song at St. Mark's Basilica in Venice and at the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, as well as, having the opportunity to sing for the Holy Father during his weekly general Audience.  Besides offering us unique liturgical and musical opportunities, this pilgrimage will take us to the sacred sites of our Catholic faith, including the Sistine Chapel and the Basilicas of Christian Rome.  We will also take in the historic and ancient venues of Rome, including the Coliseum and the Roman Forum. Visiting Venice, Ravenna, Florence, and Assisi will certainly round out what promises to be a spiritually rewarding and altogether unforgettable experience.
